Manpro, Site Objective
T
his site is operated as a general information source for the Package Engineering (PE) of Machinery and Plant for the Onshore and Offshore Process Oil and Gas Industry. It specifically deals with Transportation of Packages, their Load Out from a construction site, Movement and Load In to an installation/operations Site. Its purpose is to produce comment and discussion for those interested in the subject.   It is run in conjunction with  http://www.packageit2go.com  which deals with Package Engineering in general.

Package Engineering covers the engineering necessary to design, manufacture, supply, install and operate the Package.  In order to complete this cycle of events it is usually the case that the package must be transported from "A" the place of origin/ building, to "B" its place of installation / operation.  To do this it is desirable that design of the package should integrate these activities effectively. At the design stage the Package should have suitable features for it to be built on its building blocks/foundations,  At the same time its features must consider its move out onto transport, transport from building site to installation site, movement into the installation site and onto its operational foundations. Thus the basic structure or with the addition of supplementary steelwork should be suitable for all these operations.

Thus the design of the Package must encompass its build ability, its transportability and operability.  All of these elements of design are developed to meet the requirements of the process and to meet the operational performance required. To do this such things as topography, detail of the building and installation sites, height of Building Blocks, Load Spreader Beams, Sea Fastenings, Elevation of Foundations must be considered to decide a suitable method of movement both between these and up and down any necessary rampage.

The 3 three general routes from "A" the place of origin/ building, to "B"place of installation / operation are shown in the schemes:-
1) Ro Ro, 2) Skidding, and 3) Lifting, and are elaborated in General

Foot notes, Information

A good place to pick up information on Package Engineering are the major Offshore Engineering Exhibitions, two of note are:- O.T.C. The Offshore Technology Conference (& Exhibition) held in Houston USA in the Spring and O.N.S. Offshore North Seas, held alternatively in Aberdeen Scotland and Stavanger Norway in the early autumn.  Information on these can be found on:- http://www.otcnet.org and http://www.ons.no
